The lighthouse museum of the St. Augustine in Florida was opened for public. It is believed that two daughters of a man who was in charge of the construction of the lighthouse, died near lighthouse. Often, the two girls have been seen around the lighthouse and many unexplained sounds have been heard. While shooting for a paranormal show on TV, Ghost Hunters, many unidentified evidence has been found. The lighthouse keeper also noticed a shadow of an unknown man in the basement.
9. Gettysburg Battlefield

The battle of Gettysburg was fought in the month of July 1863, between the United States and Confederate States. The battlefield of Gettysburg is considered as one of the most haunted place in the America because more than 40,000 people died here. A lot of the unnatural activities were experienced near the statue of the Devil Den where a large number of limbs were recovered after the war. The screaming of men in pain, the sound of cannons and gunfire has been heard several times by passengers.

One of the most haunted cemeteries in the United States is St. Louis Cemetery, located in Louisiana. It is divided into three sections and the oldest one was built in the late 18th century. There are so many real ghost stories has been attached to this cemetery and most of Hollywood horror movies are inspired by these stories. This cemetery is also known as the cities of the dead and believed that a woman named, Marie Laveau’s spirit haunts the graveyard. There are numerous of paranormal activities that were experienced by many people.

The Bell Witch Cave is a karst cave (formed from the dissolution of rocks) located in Tennessee. Once upon a time, this cave belongs to Betsy Bell who was a young cave explorer. There were many terrifying activities experienced by her family, after she found a half dog, a half rabbit creature in the cave. Some people say that she was poisoned by a witch. Still, there are many paranormal activities noticed by people. The cave is 150 meters long and now privately owned for tourism.
6. Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, also known as Western State Hospital was a psychiatric hospital. It was operated between 1864 and 1994 and located in the state of West Virginia. It was initially designed to hold only 250 patients and in the 1950s, there were more than 2000 patients. This hospital was forcibly closed in the 1994 because of mistreatment of staff with patients. Due to mistreatment, hundreds of people died in the hospital. A majority of terrified activities has been seen by several people. Now this place is used as a museum and partly opened for tourists.
5. Waverly Hills Sanatorium

The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is an abandoned building which was initially opened in 1910 as a hospital of tuberculosis patients. This hospital has been hosted on the television show, Ghost Hunters and considered as the most haunted hospital in the United States. Some stats show that more than 60,000 people died here of tuberculosis. There is also a myth about the death of a nurse who was found hanged in the hospital. Due to the high number of deaths resulted from the mistreatment of patients, the number of unnatural and paranormal activities are also very high.
4. Bannack

Bannack is also known as Ghost Town, located in Montana. It was founded in 1862 and named after Indian local tribe. This town is haunted and several terrifying activities have been experienced by people. Many people saw a woman in a blue gown who was drowned in a creek. Another report showed that a gang was also executed and 14 infants died of diseases in the town. The locals and tourists have often reported hearing babies crying.

It is believed that this cemetery is haunted by a woman named as the black lady whose son was dead in an accident in 1930s. People believed that she always remains near the grave of her child and their dog also guard the baby’s grave. Sometimes people experienced being chased by the woman. There are many other terrifying activities seen by passengers.

Eleanor Roosevelt felt the presence of Abraham Lincoln watching her when she works in the Abraham bedroom. Roosevelt, a clerk claimed to see the ghost of Abraham Lincoln sitting on a bed.

The West Virginia State Penitentiary is a closed prison which was operated between 1876 and 1995. Between 1899 and 1959, ninety-four men were executed, eighty-five from hanging and nine on the electric chair. Due to so many deaths in the prison (as locals believe), security guards experience shadow man roaming in the prison and unnatural voices, noises and cold spots. Several paranormal groups and travel guides considered this prison as one of the most haunted prisons in the United States. Now this prison is used as a tourist spot.
